Publishing project management from commissioning to print Pencil-Sharp Ltd
Sharp, and to the point
CLIENTS

Pencil-Sharp has provided a full publishing project management service – from draft-editing and cover design to delivery of print – to RPS plc (the energy resource and environmental management consultancy), Lucas Publications (publishers of The Good Schools Guide and the Good Schools Guide – Special Education Needs), to Incisive Media plc, and to Qube Books, a publishing venture of our own.

Since the launch of our publishing consultancy service, we have given advice and guidance to the Cambridge-Hitachi partnership as they sought to devise outsourced publishing solutions, and to EdExcel in their efforts to tailor an appropriate supply solution for an ambitious publishing program in the summer months of 2008.

We have supplied a full pre-press project management service – from content development or copy-editing to print-ready proof – for Harcourt Education, Pearson Education, LCP, Garnet Education, Aspinal of London, the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD), and previously for Letts Education and David Fulton prior to their recent acquisition by Huveaux plc and Routledge/Taylor & Francis respectively.

Until its recent closure, Pencil-Sharp provided editorial project management services for Oxford University Presss Contract Publishing Unit (formerly the International Education Unit). In partnership with the CPU, Pencil-Sharp editors worked on several DfES/National Strategies projects with the Centre for British Teachers and Capita.

Single stage management of multiple titles belonging to a single series has been provided for the Office for National Statistics and the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) (also on DfES, as well as Learning and Skills Council projects), and for The Continuum International Publishing Group.

Having used Pencil-Sharp since its inception, I have found the editors sourced for Continuum to be experienced, exacting and prompt

Editorial, typesetting/layout, or pressure-valve services have been supplied to publishers as diverse as The Rapport Group, Toucan Marketing, English Heritage, Cambridge University Presss ELT division, Gerald Duckworth, Christian Research, the Book Guild, Class Publishing, Edinburgh University Press, Legal Action, and SCM Canterbury Press. Our editors have worked on projects ranging in subject matter from explosives engineering to Egyptology and from geology to God.
